With six physicians and three nurse practitioners, Children’s Medical Group, a busy pediatric practice with locations in Bloomfield and Rocky Hill, CT, supports around-the-clock healthcare for hundreds of children in the Hartford metropolitan area.

For over four years, Practice Manager Sandra Carrier has relied on Advance Communications for after hours calls, emergency contacts and voice mail between 10:00PM and 7:00AM.

Advance Communications also handles emergency calls from parents. “We once had an extreme situation where our phone system went down and our on-call doctors could not be reached,” explains Sandra. “An Advance Communications operator received a frantic call from a parent whose newborn was not responding. The operator could not reach us, but she had the compassion and dedication to handle the situation. She returned
the parent’s call and advised her to call 911 and get to the hospital. She assured the parent she would locate the doctor.”

Sandra explains what happened next. “Advance Communications actually called my home and got my cell phone number from my husband,” she says. “They called me and we were able to contact the parents to help resolve the situation.“
